Modernization of the Arroyo Viejo Child Development Center | Oakland, Ca

As a part of the Oakland Unified School District’s Proposition B and J capital improvement program, the Arroyo Viejo Child Development Center underwent a $2.7 Million transformation that represents an investment in the community for families in need of quality child care services. The design incorporates energy and cost-efficient features and technologies, resulting in a healthy learning and working environment for students, teachers, and staff.

The improvement’s included:

  • Complete renovation of the building, including 3 classroom spaces
  • The floor plan was reconfigured to better suit the programmatic needs of the CDC
  • Collaborative for High Performance Schools certified: natural lighting; passive ventilation; low-toxicity materials; and low energy consumption utilities
  • Site improvements, including new landscaping, gardens, striping, and play equipment
